CO cast on
K Knit
P Purl
Rep. repeat
K2 tog knit 2 stitches together
Yo yarn over needle

CO 66 stitches.

Purl the next row.

Knit all rows now for about 3 cm.

Start eyelet row: * K1, YO, K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row.

Knit all rows now (or a stitch pattern of your choice) until the bag is a total of 15cm or the length you require.

Bag bottom decreases:
Row 1: * K2tog, K1. repeat from * to end
Row 2: Knit
Repeat rows 1 and 2 twice more and then repeat row 1 once.

Break yarn and using sewing needle draw through remaiming stitches, pull firmly and weave in ends.

Thread through your fastening ribbon.

I used ribbon and a couple of buttons as fastenings but you can use anything you wish.

This bag is unlined but if you are a sewer it can be lined. I am not good at sewing so used a firm yarn.

Babies come in all shapes and sizes so it is best to measure the baby before knitting. Yarn standards (http://www.yarnstandards.com/) are a help if you can’t measure.

Sizes are tiny baby/newborn up to 42 cm / 16 inch chest, (3-6 months up to 50 cm / 19 inch chest, 6-9 months up to 56 cm / 22 inch chest)

Gauge 22 stitches/30 rows to 10 cm/4 inches
